WHY BABILIAN
What Working Here Means

THE ENVIRONMENT
A Different Kind of Firm
The firm’s offices are among the best appointed in Baghdad, designed to reflect the standard of work done inside them. The environment is deliberate: a workspace that signals to clients and to the team alike that this is a firm that takes quality seriously in everything it does.
Management here operates with an open door. The Managing Partner brings extensive direct experience across Iraqi law, Iraqi governmental commissions, and the ministries and regulatory bodies that shape commercial life in Iraq. That knowledge is shared actively, not held at a distance. The firm’s management brings international operational experience and works directly with the team on the professional ethics, systems, and working disciplines that define globally benchmarked practices but remain rare in the Iraqi market. Between them, the team receives something few Baghdad firms can offer: genuine mentorship from both sides of the Iraq and international divide.
Disputes and feedback are handled the same way. Every issue is met with listening, direct conversation, and a commitment to finding ground that works for everyone. The firm does not manage people through hierarchy alone. It leads through trust.
WHO WE LOOK FOR
The Lawyers We Want
We look for lawyers who are sharp, self-directed, and serious about Iraq. Whether you are a recent law graduate building your foundation or an experienced lawyer looking to work on more complex matters, what matters most is rigour, commitment, and a genuine interest in the work. Fluency in Arabic is essential. English is an advantage. Familiarity with Iraqi commercial law, the Iraqi Companies Law, or the regulatory frameworks governing foreign investment in Iraq will strengthen your application.
