Employment & Labour
Employment law in Iraq applies differently to multinational employers than most HR teams expect when they first enter the market. Iraqi Labour Law No. 37 of 2015 imposes specific obligations on employers around contracts, termination, end-of-service entitlements, and workforce localisation that interact with international employment practices in ways that require careful management. Getting those obligations wrong, at the point of hiring, during the employment relationship, or at termination, creates liability that is disproportionate to the original oversight.
